Your Astrology Guide - Another Tool To Find Pieces of Your Purpose
As you learned in
Metaphysics,
there are a variety of tools (like astrology) to assist you with your Self discovery. As you receive information from each style of divination, take the pieces that can assist you in understanding your patterns, your purpose and your path. If you do not agree with the information, again, that is still information to enhance your clarity of YOU!
Astrology is probably the best known metaphysical practice in modern times. The word comes from the Greek definition of the study of constellations and stars. The practitioner/researcher is called an astrologer.
The earliest evidence of this study comes from 4 million BC! Markings on bones have been found to correlate to the study of the stars.
Astrology and astronomy were one in the same before the modern era. During the Renaissance through the 18th century, there has been a gradual separation of the two aspects of star studies. Astronomy is now distinguished as the scientific study of astronomical objects and phenomena without the speculation that is the focus of astrology.
This theoretical science continues to connect symbolism to the study of stars and constellations as a form of divination -"As Above, So Is Below".
Types of Astrology: - Western - Based on the solar patterns of planets.
-
Eastern - Uses the lunar patterns of planets for charts.
- Vedic - Has sidereal original constellation positions as its foundation.
- Chinese - Instead of charting by the sky, the celestial equator is used. Represented by 12 animal signs and 5 elements (water, wood, fire, air, metal) with each combination governing a different year to create a 60 year cycle.
- **Western also incorporates 4 classical elements into the make up of its charts (water, air, ground, fire).
These are probably the best known styles of astrology, however there are many other versions based on culture, tradition, religion, and additional factors.
Common Terms: - Zodiac -The belt of constellations that the planets transit through for a total of 12 signs. (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces).
- Houses -There are 12 houses that represent and govern a specific area of life. (Self, Possessions, Communication, Home, Creativity, Service, Partnership, Regeneration, Mental Exploration, Career, Hopes, Self-Undoing).

- Horoscopes -Calculus and geometry factor in the plotting of planetary positions to create a snapshot of where they are and which house they are in at that moment of time, in addition to various crossings, oppositions, relations, etc. It is this information that leads to the predictions and broad analysis for your daily, monthly and yearly horoscopes in newspapers, magazines and online.
Skeptic Or Not? Many studies have found no relationship between signs and personal traits or evidence of a connection of the date of birth and individual personality. . . and . . . of course, other studies found correlation between planetary positions and certain traits including vocations and historic events!
However - 39% of Americans believe that Astrology is a scientific study -31% of Americans believe that the information provided by their charts to be accurate!
To explore your connections and traits further, you can do it yourself with The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need . Or, have a professional astrologer do your chart and interpret your past, your patterns, your possibilities, and the nuances you would not discover on your own.
Remember, this is just another tool for self-discovery and awareness! Another piece to understanding your SELF and your big picture.
