Why Are You Here? How can Finding Your Life Purpose make a Difference?
What are you striving for? Why? If you don't know - How do you find out? So many questions! Isn't that life? oops, another question . . :)
Where to begin? Do you need to find your life purpose? Many people go through life without considering why they are here and what they are "supposed" to be doing. There is nothing wrong with this - Truly, ignorance can be bliss. But, you must be asking or you wouldn't be here (at this site). And once you start asking, it is difficult to stop. Questions on finding your life purpose can lead you to question
spirituality
and other aspects that affect your life -
energy,
intuition,
etc. For now, Let's start with how do you attain your purpose: This is an ongoing process, partially because your purpose is not a typical stable destination, for example to be a lawyer, office manager, doctor, CEO. Your purpose is a way of being, no matter your job, hobbies, habits. Finding your life purpose may lead you into those destinations - think of purpose as the cause and "doing" as the effect.
Benefits of understanding your purpose includes: - a sense of direction for your path,
- knowing why you care about certain things so deeply,
- self confidence-knowing there is a reason for you,
and- why you are faced with and must overcome challenges.
Living in alignment with your mind, body, heart, and soul means YOU ARE NOT WITHOUT PURPOSE.
Your purpose is your strongest motivation and your sense of being in service = to others, to the world, to your Self. Knowing your purpose is like the light in the storm - a place "in" you to focus on that enables you to move forward.
Back to How do You Know Your Purpose? It takes being honest with yourself, creativity (don't worry, EVERYONE can be creative) and allowing for accepting your purpose without judgment and criticism. Like - "that is was too easy", or "thats silly", or "that is not important" - - - This is your ego voice (sometimes it comes out of actual peoples' mouths) trying to keep you from recognizing your true potential and working for your highest good. Why? Because, undoubtedly, you will create change and change is the worst fear of your ego.
(see meditation)
Now, before you go to the practices - it will help you to look at a connected process to finding your life purpose.
How do You get there? Set Your Goals & Values- You are no doubt familiar with your goals and what you value.. or maybe not . . again, some people just don't think about these things. Not to worry- you will now as it is a direct link to finding your purpose. As with other categories on this site, you may find it helpful to start at the end (the goal, achievement, destination) and work backwards. You see this in developing intuition and spirituality. Here, the idea is to figure out why you have certain goals and
values.
Did you inherit them? Are there external influences involved? In other words, are you living by someone else's expectations and wants rather than your own. Example: It has become common for college graduates not to get a job in their chosen field or when they do they are not happy in it and eventually leave. Why did they pick that field in the first place? It may be for the people they met on that path, the life lessons, the knowledge gained during that part of their journey - or it could have to do with what mom/dad/teacher/friend wanted them to do.
You do not want to regret anything if you have had similar experiences! Everything you have done up to this point has gotten you here - today. It is what you do with this information, now, that forms your next steps.
What is your life purpose? What are your goals and are they aligned with your purpose? And, how do you get there - Plan! Plan in a way that gives you an outline of a path, set your goals to strive for, and also allow for intuition, adaptability, and changes in direction along the way. Another tool to help provide unbiased information and help open your eyes to possibilities is
metaphysics.
SECRET! The true goal is to be in the present, experiencing today and trusting your journey is unfolding for your highest good even in the darker moments.
Having an outline and an idea of your life purpose gives you a structure that allows you to do this.
