Your Mind Body Connection - A Wellness Formula for Life
It is common knowledge that what you think can affect your body. This is known as the mind body connection. This has been proven over and over again in studies focusing on such things as placebo effects among others. It is proven that the mind body connection has the capacity to control physical reactions and there are many sciences dedicated to researching this ability.
So, is it all in your mind? Well, yes, and in your heart and soul and body. Think of it as a chain of command - this is simplified but you get the idea. Start with your soul, spirit, higher self, (lets call it guide from now on). When you are not being all you can be (thanks army) your guide will try to let you know. Now, if you are
meditating,
and listening to your
intuition,
you will receive this message pretty easily.
However, during those times you are not receiving, or paying attention, or not acting on the received message; your guide may take steps to "assist you" in listening. This message goes through the mind and heart depending on the situation. You may lose focus and random thoughts jump in. Or you can't get a certain situation/conversation out of your head. These could be "signs" and "coincidences" trying to point you in a different direction.
NOTE: followed or not, the appropriate lesson is learned, it just depends on how much of your energy (health, money, peace of mind) you want to invest before you learn it.
Your heart gets involved with feelings: that sense of - its not real, something's not right, it's "out of whack", also feeling down (which can lead into depression) or anxiety about certain things which increases stress. Again, the message gets louder the longer your guide is ignored. Here is an example of how this can build: Like someone trying to get your attention - -first they whisper in your ear . . they talk louder . . .they tap you on the shoulder. . -then hit you in the arm . . and finally, hit you on the head with a 2x4 (all for your own good of course! :)
Where in this sequence do you want to pay attention? It is your choice . .
You see in the example that your guide uses the mind body connection and gets more physical with each step. Physical can mean body, but also material world, like property, money, relationships, traffic, lost keys, computer crashes. Losing "something" in your material world tends to get your attention like nothing else.
REMEMBER! Losing something or other similar circumstances (loss, disease, etc.) are not strictly due to missed messages. There are many, many aspects affecting your life - This is just one of them.
For this discussion, your actual physical body is the connection to consider. Like all things - these messages are energetic, so as the message gets stronger, more energy moves through your mind and heart to cause these aberrations.
The next step (hit on head) means this energy could start showing up physically. Pain, discomfort, damage, infection, usually temporary - increasing to more serious signs as it continues.
Ever get sick or injure yourself so you HAD to take time off? Slow down? This is very common in todays busy, work obsessed society. You wait until you are forced to take time rather than taking it when you first realize you need a break.
Once you have a physical issue, 1. Listen to your self - its never too late! (journal writing is a great tool to see patterns and hidden messages). 2. Also working with an alternative healer like an acupuncturist, energy worker (reiki, sacrocranial therapist, sound/massage therapists)can help you decipher some of these mind body connection messages and heal the energetic cause. 3. When physical symptoms occur, they need to be treated at that level so do see your doctor if it is chronic and/or debilitating.
PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE!!
Disease happens, recovery happens, death happens. Just being fit is not a cure all. You probably know of people who were healthy eaters and got cancer, or runners who have had heart attacks etc. (again, many aspects involved here). But being fit doesn't hurt and in this particular mind body connection - it really does help! The
wellness formula
focuses on health related fitness.
Prevention keeps the body strong so the energies of disease and injury do not have as much of a debilitating effect on you - symptoms remain temporary and easier to release.
2 Keys to prevention: - Receive, understand and act on the messages from your guide -Strong mind, body, heart and soul to withstand temporary incoming and outgoing energetic shifts.
FIRST KEY: unless this is your first devaliving-training article, you've heard this before - meditate and develop your intuition. Listen to your Self and don't do anything for others which may harm you mind-body-heart-soul. Acts done in a sense of being the martyr, feeling you are lacking, a "not good enough" attitude, or the person/people who drain your energy, are not beneficial to your mind body connection or them (you are not allowing those people the opportunity to experience their own lessons).
***IMPORTANT! In meditation, intuition, higher self contact, there will NEVER be messages telling you to harm yourself or others - if you believe you are receiving this kind of information, please contact your doctor immediately! There can be a medical cause for this symptom. Stop all meditation etc. until you have your doctor's approval.***
SECOND KEY:focus on moderation in all things! !unless it harms you or others! - i.e. you don't have to exercise 3 hours a day, meditate 2 hours a day, give up all things sweet, fattening, and yummy to be effective. - you do want to consistently exercise your heart, body, and mind and feed it healthy enrichment i.e. nutritious food, positive energy, mind expanding knowledge, unconditional love. (i.e. create your wellness formula).
This could mean there are some habits you want to make or "re-make" (quit).
OFFICIAL STATISTIC: It takes 21 days to create a new habit, 120 days (4 months) to keep it or longer if addictive chemicals are involved like nicotine, drugs, sugar, alcohol. Example: nicotine does not leave your body for over 4 months.
So you will need a system for tracking and reinforcement that incorporates mind-body-heart-soul. Journal, calendar, charts, PDA, etc. Which ever you use, write down each day what you did or didn't do - don't just mark it off, energetically this is not as effective.
What to track? Body - do the thing, write notes on what you did and where you are improving. Heart - affirm how well you are doing and/or what emotions are coming up and restate your intentions. Soul - give thanks for the assistance and give appreciation for having another day to continue your development.
Every area has its own guidelines so you are going to be given practice tips for your mind body connection and then you can go to the detailed devaliving-training articles based on your focus. . .
But First - You must make a commitment to yourself! Have you ever said you were going to do something, and then not do it? This is a critical step that has much more power than you may be aware of. Do you see disappointment in others when you don't follow through, or do you have disappointment in others because they don't come through for you? This is called "projection", where you take a behavior that you dislike and put on someone else, rather than admit you do it. When you cannot commit to your self, others cannot commit to you either. This is also
projection!
How does this affect us? When you do things for other people but not for your self, you are sending the message to yourself that you are not worthy, not deserving, and often this may mean that you don't follow through for others as well. Your self-worth is reflected in how well you do for you.
Every time you to back out of a promise to yourself (food, bad habits, exercise, travel, errands, projects, meetings, etc.) you are telling your self that you are not trust worthy - you cannot trust you!
You need to build up that trust by following through on everything you promise - this means not promising what you feel you shouldn't do! And making sure that what you are committing to is in alignment with your higher self/guide/spirit. . .
If you are doing "this" for someone else, you need to either reframe your intention or do something else.
So, before you start anything - be very clear on your intention = the what and why you are committing to your self. Then, honor your promise!

Okay, Here are some general, fits almost all mind body connection habits-commitments-promises tips:- To add in a habit: start small and work your way up. Make it too easy to start - 5 minutes, 2 pages, walk only around the block, etc. so you will want to do more! Make increases about every 4th or 5th day/time until you are at the level you desire to reach your goal. e.g. increase 1-5 minutes each time, 1-3 pages, add another block. etc.
- To redo (get rid of) a habit, work on one at a time; trying to quit in multiples can overwhelm the body and the mind. There is a lot that goes into why you started, how it has affected you, why you are stopping, - that you need to process through while you are redoing.
- Set up rewards (healthy, not cheating) for increments, don't wait until the final big goal is reached. Sometimes the reward is built into the result (more energy, clearer mind) but plan for some rewards in advance as well.
- Be Playful! Make up games, get others involved to support you and maybe join you in changing!
- Be Kind - allow for those times of not doing (or doing) and move forward. Keep focus, ask what happened, how it felt, what can help keep you from doing it again, why this is important for you to do and re-commit.
- Make the wrong choice? Maybe you picked something too difficult to start with or there is something showing up that is more urgent - Redo! This is not breaking trust - it is using your mind and heart to re-evaluate and adjust, as long as you are working on positive development you are still in alignment with your commitment and your higher self.
- Emergencies? Is it really? Evaluate and decide what needs to be prioritized for your highest good. It is still very important for you to follow through in some way.
- Remember the
EGO!
The dark, heavy energy that fears change especially when it takes you to a higher vibration (light). Don't deny or hate the ego - this is just a piece of your wholeness, acknowledge it as a part of you and still choose for your higher good.
The ego will show through obstacles that test you - each test you pass, the stronger you will get and the less you will deal with that particular issue (prove to the ego that you have learned!) Example: try - test- overcome - try - test - overcome - try - test - overcome - DONE! Success! If you quit? That lesson still needs to be learned at some point . . .
- Prepare > get good shoes (no blisters), grocery shop with a list (no impulse), stock up (no excuses), meet your ego head on and be prepared, no excuses, pass the test!
- Balance = its easy to get totally occupied/obsessed with your project. Again, this can cause you to quit due to burn out or possibly getting ill because you are out of balance. Allow for a balance of mind-body-heart-soul through, work, play, contemplation, love, fun > strive for being better in all realms. Don't neglect one for another.
- Variety - any one thing done repetitively will create burn out and boredom and possibly overuse injury. Get creative and support yourself in your goals through multiple methods.
FINALLY - Intention: Keep why this is so important to you in front of you - if it is not important to YOU (external/others influenced your decision)
(see find your purpose)
